Stevanato Group, specializing in glass pharmaceutical primary packaging, glass converting machines, visual inspection systems, assembling and packaging machines for the pharmaceutical industry, announces the acquisition of the operating units of the German Balda Group. The German Group is specialized in high quality and high precision plastic solutions, developed and manufactured to meet customers’ specific needs. Balda’s healthcare segment is active in diagnostic, pharmaceutical and medical device applications.

The holding company, Balda AG, is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Following the transfer to Stevanato Group of its operating units, the holding will change its name from Balda AG to Clere AG. The operating units will continue to operate within Stevanato Group under the Balda name.

The operation - worth 95 million Euros – will involve the companies Balda Medical GmbH & CO. KG and Balda Medical Verwaltungsgesellschaft MBH, located in Bad Oeynhausen (Germany), Balda C. Brewer Inc. and Balda Precision Inc., located in California, as well as Balda Medical Systems SRL, located in Romania, totaling more than 700 employees, and related operative assets.

“This acquisition is a further step towards our strategy goal to broaden our product portfolio providing integrated systems for pharmaceutical use, shifting to the higher part of the value chain”, states Franco Stevanato, CEO of Stevanato Group.

The operation fits into the strategic vision of the Group, focused on a growth plan based not only on the current core business of pharmaceutical glass containers. In order to maximize the development and to keep growing at the same double digit track-record, Stevanato Group intends to move from the glass component to the integrated system for pharmaceutical use and to continue expanding internationally.

Indeed, Balda Medical GmbH & CO. KG, Balda C. Brewer Inc., Balda Precision Inc. and Balda Medical Systems SRL are specialized in the production of molded plastic components and medical devices that can be integrated with the glass containers of Stevanato Group in order to offer complete systems for pharmaceutical use.
